We hope this will be the beginning of a long relationship of caring for your teeth. You will find your new patient dental health assessment a little different to other dental practices.

Our checklist

We believe it is important to understand the condition of your teeth, any developing issues and available treatments for each case.

For this reason, your appointment will include a full assessment of our 10-point dental health checklist.

How we can help

1. If you are dentally fit

If you are dentally fit, we would encourage you to join one of our Peace of Mind Care Plans, helping you safeguard against unexpected treatment costs that may crop up at an inconvenient time.

Under our Peace of Mind Care Plan, for a monthly membership fee based on your individual circumstances, all treatment required to save your natural teeth is included at no additional cost. We will provide an individualised quote at your new patient exam. An additional benefit is that all included treatment is guaranteed for as long as you are a member of our plan – we hope this will be for life!

2. If we need to get you dentally fit

If you require some treatment, we will need to get you dentally fit before you can fully join one of our Peace of Mind Care Plans. Once we have provided you with a report of the treatment required, there are two options.

Once we have undertaken the required treatment to get you dentally fit, we can welcome you onto our Peace of Mind Care Plan. If there is a large amount of treatment required, we can arrange finance to make this more affordable.
If you would like to join our plans but would not like to have our recommended treatment, we can arrange for your plan to exclude the teeth we have recommended you have treatment on.

I recently had root canal treatment with Andrew at the Observatory Dental Practice and I can honestly say it’s the best Dental treatment I’ve received. I was previously told that my tooth would have to be extracted so I decided to book in for a consultation with Andrew and get a second opinion. I left the consultation feeling relived he could preserve my own tooth and at ease about the treatment plan.The treatment itself was a pleasant experience - pain free during and after and I felt very well looked after under the expert hands of Andrew and his dental nurse, each step explained to me during the procedure. I am so pleased that I chose this dental practice. All staff are really friendly. My dentist Thomas is a holistic dentist. He explains everything very well and puts you at ease. My recent extraction was so much better than a previous one at another practice. Thomas used Ozone disinfectant treatment & Platelet-rich Fibrin to aid healing of the tooth socket and minimise risk of infection. He also talks though supplements you may wish to take to aid the overall healing process. My post extraction pain levels were minimal compared to previous extraction. Rachel my hygienist is also friendly. I feel like I am treated as an individual and my needs are taken into consideration. I would highly recommend this dental practice to anyone.

I am an autistic young person who has not had many great experiences at the dentist. My mum found Thomas Bethke as she was looking for a dentist that was more holistic and understanding of our choices. I was made to feel very welcome, safe and secure. My treatment was so good no one could tell I'd had a composite on my front tooth! He spent lots of time with us as a family and we are so happy we have found someone we can trust and go to for check ups, advice and my mum can discuss all the stuff she's into and he understands. The place is lovely and the staff were all kind and friendly too.

We went to Observatory Dental Practice because we had been dropped off our former NHS dentist's list and also because the Observatory is within walking distance of our home.We were given very thorough examinations including X-rays and photographs to provide written treatment plans to be discussed with the dentist on a follow-up visit. We opted for functional rather than cosmetic treatments. The treatments required a series of visits, mainly to replace existing amalgam fillings that were likely to fail with more durable white fillings. The dentist (Josh) was keen to avoid discomfort as much as possible. Following these appointments we feel that our teeth should not give us any trouble for the foreseeable future.We are now seeing the hygienist, Yana, for regular follow up, maintenance, visits.The front line admin. staff are very friendly and helpful.Although the costs may appear to be high, we gather that they are comparable with other dental practices in the area but we feel that we are getting value for money.

My son had quite big serious dental work done at the Observatory. The staff were all so friendly and kind. Andrew, the dentist, was amazing. He talked through the procedure with my son and answered all his questions. He was very professional, attentive and took such care in treating my son. It was a very positive experience. Yes there is a cost, but it was worth it in the circumstances and we felt reassured the work was being done to a high standard.

Doctor Andrew Paterson at The Observatory Dental Practice is a highly skilled endodontist, as well as calming in his manner with excellent communication skills. I feel fortunate to have been referred to him by my dentist in order to try and save a tooth that otherwise would have had to be pulled out. Despite the high level of difficulty, Dr. Andrew was able to save my tooth! I appreciated how he reassuringly explained everything he was doing regarding my tooth - before, during, and after the procedure. I am so grateful and due to his skills my life has been made much better. Also, his dental practice is a bright, clean, friendly place to be in Falmouth. All of the staff I encountered were kind, helpful, and good at their jobs. I highly recommend Dr. Andrew and his practice!

I have been a patient at the Observatory Dental Practice since it opened a few years ago, receiving treatment from Andrew and Yana. All the staff are very friendly, and I have always felt cared for and in safe hands. I have been able to book appointments at a time that is convenient, and when I wanted a follow up appointment, I was able to get one very quickly. I have confidence that Andrew and Yana are looking after the long-term health of my teeth with their pro-active and preventative approach, advice and knowledge.

I cannot recommend this dental practice highly enough. Before coming here, I’d had some truly awful experiences with NHS dentists and honestly wish I had found this place much sooner. If you need a root canal — or have had a failed root canal and are looking for someone who is gentle, compassionate, and genuinely skilled — go to Andrew Patterson.I spent an entire year dealing with complications from a previous root canal, including constant rounds of antibiotics and no real solution. After seeing Andrew, the problem was finally resolved, and I haven’t had a single issue since. The equipment in this practice is far more advanced than anything I’ve seen elsewhere — for example, Andrew uses a microscope on his goggles to ensure every part of the root canal is thoroughly cleaned.Before coming here, I was extremely anxious about dental visits. My past experiences had left me feeling that many dentists were rude, dismissive, and lacked empathy. Andrew is the complete opposite. I no longer feel anxious about dental appointments at all.If cost is a concern, they offer 0% interest payment plans, and the prices are genuinely very reasonable.This is an honest review from someone who had lost all trust and hope in dentists because of past experiences. Meeting Andrew truly restored my faith. If you’re looking for a good dentist, go here — I genuinely cannot stress this enough. I only wish I had found this place sooner.

I was a little nervous at first having not visited a dentist for some time, however I was soon made to feel at ease by all the staff who were very friendly and non-judgemental.Andrew is a very knowledgeable and professional dentist, but also very down to earth and easy to get along with. After some good, honest advice he sorted out my immediate problems and he has now given me my smile back with some very skilled cosmetic dentistry.Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the treatment I have received and I would highly recommend The Observatory Dental Practice!

This place is mind blowing. I hadn't been to the dentist for 9 years, they were very realistic about what I needed and didn't force any treatment on me, I was actually surprised how little treatment I needed. I've never been somewhere that you can see and feel that every member of staff is happy and feels valued. Everyone is so lovely, caring and patient. The place itself is high tech, beautifully furnished, they have thought of everything even TVs on the ceiling so you can focus on something other than a blank wall and keeping your mouth open. The cleanliness is beyond spotless. Literally the best dental client I've ever been too. Highly recommend especially if you're scared of the dentist because they will do everything to make you feel at ease. Such a personal service. Thanks to all the team 😊

I’ve been a patient of Andrew’s for over decade and I can’t recommend the Observatory Dental Practice highly enough. I now live some distance away but it's absolutely worth travelling for.All my interactions with Andrew and the team have been excellent. For my most recent visit, the staff worked hard to fit me in at very short notice but my appointment didn’t feel rushed - the treatment was very thorough and the standard of care was fantastic.The practice itself has a very relaxing atmosphere and it’s filled with modern equipment (and I’m a big fan of the TV above the detail chair).

I cannot recommend Observatory Dental enough. I have been with them for the last couple of years and their service is always outstanding. Andrew has always been amazing, the care he shows is second to none. Today I had a small dental emergency and had an appointment with Thomas. I was so impressed by Thomas' holistic approach, his kindness and how he put me so at ease. Thomas and his assistant, Jess, were just fantastic! I must also mention Yana, who is a superb hygienist and again, goes above and beyond! What an amazing team, I really cannot speak highly enough of this dental practice.

I visited The Observatory Dental Practice with my mum who is hearing and visually impaired. From the moment we stepped into the practice she was made to feel at ease. Thomas and Emily were so kind, patient and understanding of her challenges. Thomas worked out a sign language code for her and I was allowed in the consultation so that I could relay the procedure at every stage. Mum’s appointment was lengthy and complex but was carried out with such expertise and professionalism with a caring approach.Thomas’s holistic approach and knowledge was so helpful for her aftercare. I must add the ‘blood Treatment’ not sure of the correct name was just amazing. Your own blood taken during the consultation, spun down then re used back into the cavity where the tooth was extracted to help the healing process. Wow. Definitely recommend.

I have been a patient at the Observatory since 2022, the treatment and care given have always been of the highest standard. The practice itself is a lovely and tranquil space and the team are all friendly and welcoming. All treatment and check ups are undertaken in the most professional, friendly and caring manor and time is always taken to explain whats either needed or about to be done. A very highly recommended dental practice.
